MEREDITH MEADE, PRESIDENT (2024)

Meredith Meade is serving her second consecutive term on the Governing Board, and was originally elected in November, 2016.

Meredith has volunteered in Lafayette since her oldest child began kindergarten at Lafayette Elementary in 2006.  Her roles have included: Lafayette Elementary School PTA Executive Board (2007-2013; President 2011-2013); Lafayette Partners in Education (2013-2016; President 2014-2016); Rapport (2010-2016; Chair 2013-2014); Rancho Colorados Swim & Tennis Club Board of Directors (Swim Director 2012-2014); and, Lafayette Swim Conference Board of Directors (Secretary 2016-2018); and Las Trampas Creek Council of PTAs Executive Board (2017-2020). She also volunteered for several local parcel tax and bond measures, serving as a school site chair in 2011 and a signatory on the ballot in favor of Measure C, the 2016 bond measure passed for the upgrade and retrofit of the district’s schools.  Currently, she serves on the Board for the UC Berkeley Library.

Her current Board assignments include Joint City/Schools, Rapport, and the Contra Costa County School Board Association.  Meredith is the liaison to Burton Valley Elementary School and the Lafayette Education Association.  Since 2019, Meredith has served on the Delegate Assembly for the California School Board Association, representing school districts in Region 7 (Contra Costa County).

Meredith grew up in southern California and attended public schools, graduating from UC Berkeley with a BA in History. Before volunteering and raising her children, Meredith worked for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and the College of Letters & Science at UC Berkeley.

Meredith and her husband, Dan, have lived in Lafayette since 1999, and have three children (all currently in college!) who attended Lafayette Elementary, Stanley Middle School and Acalanes High School.

ROB STURM, CLERK (2026)

Rob has been a Lafayette School District Governing Board Member since 2017.


Rob has been a practicing labor and employment attorney and litigator for 30+ years and currently serves as the Chief Litigation Officer for CSAA Insurance Group, a AAA insurer.  Rob obtained his BS in Industrial & Labor Relations from Cornell University and his JD from Boston University School of Law where he served as an editor on the Boston University Law Review.


Rob has spent significant time during his professional career performing volunteer service. His non-profit work has included volunteer teaching and non-profit board service, and Rob served for many years on the Board of Directors for CASA for Children of Klamath Falls, the Northern California Employment Round Table and the Lafayette Homeowners Council. 


His current Board Committee assignments include the Lamorinda Transportation/JPA and the District’s Budget and Sustainability Committees. He is also the liaison to Happy Valley Elementary School and the California School Employees Association.


Rob and his wife Kristina have lived in Lafayette since 2009.  They have two children who attend Burton Valley Elementary School and their oldest is a Stanley Middle School student.


SUZY PAK (2024)

Suzy has a background of more than 25 years in the financial services/asset management industry.  She is a native Californian and the product of California public schools.  She has a BA in Economics from UC Santa Cruz and an MBA from San Jose State University.

Suzy is the Community Outreach Coordinator at Lamorinda Village, a non-profit organization that provides support and connections for seniors. 

Suzy is an active community volunteer with service on the boards of the Springhill Elementary Parent Faculty Club, the Lafayette Library and Learning Center Foundation, National Charity League-Acalanes Chapter,  Contra Costa Child Abuse Prevention Council,  San Francisco Child Abuse Prevention Center, Junior League of San Francisco, Lamorinda Village, and Educate Our State.  She served as the Treasurer for the Measure B parcel tax campaign in 2011 and 2014. Suzy has served on the Governing Board since 2014.


Her current Board assignments include Budget, LPIE, Policy and DEIB. She is also the Board liaison to Stanley Middle School.


She and her husband Mark Gundacker have lived in Lafayette since 2001 with their daughters, who have attended Springhill, Stanley, and Acalanes. 


DAVE SMITH (2026)

Dave Smith joined the Governing Board in June 2021. Dave is passionate about public engagement, civic education, and social and emotional learning. He served on the board of Lafayette Partners in Education (LPIE) from 2019-2021 and on the leadership team for the Measure L parcel tax campaign for Lafayette schools in 2020.

Dave is the CEO of California Volunteers Fund where he builds public-private partnerships on behalf of California Volunteers, Office of the Governor.  

He is also the founder of X Sector Labs where he's consulted for business, government, and nonprofit clients on issues including executive coaching, leadership development, corporate citizenship, economic development, green manufacturing, service and volunteerism, civic education, community journalism, and mental health.

Dave is a graduate of UC Berkeley and has two decades of experience as an entrepreneur, coalition builder, and cross-sector leader, and he previously served as chief executive for the Presidio Institute, National Conference on Citizenship, and Mobilize.org.

His current Board assignments are Sustainability, LTCC, and Joint City/District. Dave is also the liaison to Lafayette Elementary and the Lafayette Education Association.

Dave is a sixth generation San Franciscan, enjoys playing golf, traveling the world, and going to Cal Football games. He lives in Lafayette with his wife, Maya, and their two children who attend Springhill Elementary.

KATY FOREMAN (2026)

Katy was elected to the Governing Board in November, 2022. Katy’s experience in our district includes serving on the Lafayette Elementary PTA Board for four years (President from 2020-2021), on the Stanley Middle School PTA Board, as Lafayette School District Rapport Chair, on the Lafayette Elementary Site Council, as Lafayette Elementary DEIB Committee Chair, as Lafayette Elementary’s “No Place for Hate” Parent Lead, on the District’s DEIB Committee for three years, on the District’s Parent Education Committee, on the Las Trampas Creek Council of PTA’s Executive Board, supporting the District’s Traffic Safety Awareness Campaign with the City of Lafayette, and a variety of other roles.

Outside of our District, Katy has volunteered with the Lindsay Wildlife Experience rehabilitating injured native animals, and served on the board of Lafayette Nursery School.

Her current Board assignments include Policy as well as SEED, and the Arts Long-Term Planning Committee.  She is the Board liaison to Springhill Elementary School and the California School Employees Association.

Katy and her husband Todd have lived in Lafayette since 2003, and have two children attending Lafayette Elementary and Stanley Middle School. Katy grew up in Portland, Oregon, and earned a BS in Astrophysics from the University of Washington, where she also rowed on the crew team.
